I. Overview of Battery Material Drying Production Line and Lithium Iron Phosphate Spray Drying Tower Project


With the rapid development of global new energy and new materials, new battery materials in the broadly used battery field have become an emerging sector and have seen rapid development in recent years. The production process urgently requires revolutionary auxiliary equipment. Considering the specific characteristics of battery (electromagnetic) materials (such as lithium iron phosphate and ternary materials), we have developed specialized drying equipment for battery materials accordingly.


In recent years, China's lithium battery production has significantly increased. By the end of 2009, the cumulative output of lithium-ion batteries had reached 1.875 billion units. The cathode materials for lithium batteries have evolved from a single cobalt-based material to a stage where cobalt-based, lithium manganate, nickel-cobalt lithium, nickel-cobalt-manganese lithium, and lithium iron phosphate materials are progressing simultaneously. Driven by the growth of the lithium battery market, the overall market for lithium battery materials is on the rise. Progress in the research of lithium battery cathode materials indicates a broad market prospect.


Lithium iron phosphate is a novel material that is at the forefront of the lithium battery industry revolution. Due to its advantages, lithium iron phosphate batteries are widely used in hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), power tools, electric bicycles, electric scooters, and power storage devices. HEVs are expected to be the main development direction of new energy vehicles in the coming years. As the production of HEVs continues to increase and their market share rises, the market scale for lithium iron phosphate batteries will rapidly grow.

 

II. Overview of Battery Material Drying Production Line and Lithium Iron Phosphate Spray Drying Tower Equipment


Battery material spray drying equipment disperses raw material into droplets using an atomizer and obtains powdery products through direct contact with hot air (or other gases). The air is filtered and heated, then enters the dryer through a hot air distributor at the top. The hot air enters the drying chamber spirally and evenly. The feed liquid is sprayed into fine droplets by a high-speed centrifugal atomizer at the top of the tower. The droplets contact the hot air, mix, flow, and transfer heat and mass simultaneously, drying into the final product in a very short time. The direction of airflow and droplets can be co-current, counter-current, or mixed, which significantly affects the temperature distribution within the drying tower, the trajectory of the droplets (or particles), the residence time of the particles in the tower, and the properties of the final product.


III. Principle of Battery Material Drying Production Line and Lithium Iron Phosphate Spray Drying Tower

The high-speed centrifugal spray dryer for battery materials is used for drying water-soluble liquid materials of lithium iron phosphate cathode materials. By adopting high-speed centrifugal spray atomization technology, it achieves continuous drying production while obtaining microspherical particles with uniform size, compact structure, and good flowability. This technology significantly improves or increases the tap density of lithium iron phosphate cathode materials, achieving single-particle sizes of 3-5 microns and a final moisture content of 0.5%. The use of magnetic filtration technology effectively prevents iron ion impurities during the production process, ensuring the purity of the material and maintaining the conductive properties of the cathode material. The recycling of waste heat gas achieves the goal of energy conservation and emission reduction, in line with the national advocacy for energy-saving, emission-reducing, and low-carbon production methods. To ensure production safety, the machine adopts pulse dust removal and cooling protection technology. Under intelligent control operation, it achieves cooling protection safety interlock. The comprehensive application of innovative technology provides basic equipment and technical support for the industrial production of new energy lithium battery cathode materials in China, making it an ideal new material drying equipment.
